To Indent a Line

There are different ways to indent a line. Before you learn these ways, be sure to remember the purpose of the indent: to tell the reader that a new paragraph is beginning.

The easiest, quickest way to indent a line is to hit the Tab key, generally located in the upper left-hand section of your keyboard. Hitting this key will give you a very noticeable indent, roughly equivalent to five alphabetic characters in width.

Some people feel the indent using the Tab key is too much. If you agree, then we suggest that you hit the space bar either two or three times to make a small, more elegant, paragraph indent.
