Description: Exploration of the diversity of the human community including the search for human origins. Focus is on the cultural evolution of man, lost
civilizations, archaeology, and the societies and cultures of nonwestern peoples. How the traditional ways of life of hunter-gatherers, pastoral nomads and tribal cultivators are being challenged by present-day technological advancements is also explored. The student’s awareness of cross-cultural diversity in a global context, and understanding of how human societies came to be formed, will be broadened.

better in Foundations of Reading AND Writing: Introduction to the Essay, OR C- or better in Integrated Reading and Writing I; OR placement into Academic Reading AND Writing: Introduction to Composition, OR Introduction to College
