Description: This course analyzes the major science and technology issues that confront today's society. Through an examination of the underlying science, students gain an understanding of the impact these issues hold for the environment, our natural resources, and our society, including benefit versus hazard expectations. Course issues, which change to incorporate timely topics, include acid rain; agriculture; diseases such as AIDS, cancer, and heart disease; energy; genetic engineering; the greenhouse effect; ozone depletion; and water pollution. Note: This course counts as a science core course but does not satisfy requirements for the biology major or minor
