How do I enter the Threaded Discussion?

After entering your class, click on the Communication Tools link.

How do I navigate and create threads using the Threaded Discussion?

Navigation:

To review a message, simply click on the Threaded Discussion Topic.
All the messages within that topic will display. Select the message you want to view.
The detail of the message will be displayed. You can also search for a specific message by name or by key word.

New Messages:

The Compose Message button lets you create a new message under an existing topic.

Compose Message

In the next window, you can compose your message. Select the Topic in which you wish to post the message, and then enter your subject and write the body of your message.
When you are finished, click the Post button.

Attachments:
You can also attach files to your message. Click the Browse button (shown at the bottom of the picture above).

A new window will open that will allow you to select a file located on your computer. Select the file you would like, and then click OK.

This will bring you back to the message window. Click the Attach File button to add the document to your message. When you are finished with your message, click the Post button.

*WARNING*

  • Attached files cannot contain spaces or special characters in their names. These will prevent the files from displaying properly.
  • Also, if your document contains a virus, it will be deleted from the server automatically. This may cause the attachment link in your message to fail.


Reply to Existing Messages

To reply to an existing message in a Topic, simply select the thread and message and then click the Reply button.

Reply Options:

  • Reply: This option will place only your comments in your message.
  • Quote: This option will include the original message, along with your comments in the message.
  • Download: This option will download the contents of the message to you computer.
