Consortium teams-up with SBC SNET to sponsor Teacher Technology Awards
October 2001

The Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium (CTDLC) and SBC SNET today announced the winners of the Connecticut Teacher Technology Awards.  The three winning teachers are being recognized for their outstanding efforts to enhance students' learning experiences through the incorporation of information technology in their classrooms.  Each teacher will receive an award of $3,000.

Consortium Awards Second Round of Grants for Online Course Development -
January 2001

The CTDLC awarded five $35,000 grants to Connecticut colleges to produce online academic programs in fields from criminal justice to early childhood education. Students can take the courses from a computer at their convenience, anytime, anywhere, and earn credits required for a degree in a particular field. This is the second round of awards made by the consortium since October 2000. The latest Award winners are: Eastern Connecticut State University, a Masters Degree in Accounting; Tunxis Community College, Associates Degree in Criminal Justice; Saint Joseph College, a Masters Degree in Biology; Sacred Heart University, a BS in Leadership Studies; Central Connecticut State University, a Masters in Data Mining.

New Web Site Design Makes Access to Distance Learning in CT Easier -
January 2001

The CTDLC has updated its website to better accommodate the needs of students, faculty, and businesses. Courses offered online by Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium members are listed by semester with links to the College or University’s website for additional information and registration processes.  The new site design offers three distinct avenues from its’ portal site so that students, faculty or business personnel can easily acquire only the information they need.  The site has also been designed to conform to the specific access needs of individuals with disabilities.

$175,000 in Online Course Development Grants for Connecticut Higher Education -
November 2000

The Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium awarded five grants of $35,000 each to Connecticut Higher Education institutions to produce online academic programs.  Each of these awards will result in the creation of a degree program that is completely online and available to students anytime anywhere.

$2 Million Goes To Connecticut On Line Learning -
May 2000
The Connecticut General Assembly recently awarded an additional $2 million dollars to the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium (www.ctdlc.org), a partnership of state and private colleges and universities offering online college programs: $1.2 million is allocated to program development for both credit and non-credit courses created specifically for students to take on line. Another $800,000 is directed toward using online courses to build a teaching force that is experienced in using educational technologies to enhance learning in grades from kindergarten and through college.
